“What I’ve discovered along the way is that the road to success is usually a pretty bumpy one. And there are no shortcuts.” —Drew Bress
Drew Brees, the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, comes from a life full of difficulties, including the divorce of his parents at a young age, an ACL tear in high school, and a near-career-ending shoulder injury with the Chargers. But, similar to most hall of fame quarterbacks, Brees has the uncanny ability to get back up and look forward with optimism.
In his book, Coming Back Stronger, Brees highlights moments of adversity and difficulty—and how he overcame them. The path to becoming MVP of Super Bowl XLIV was full of bumps, bruises, and setbacks, none of which seemed to slow Brees from believing he could become better.
The Saints ended their football season with a loss last weekend, but we can only assume that Drew Brees will be filled with the determination to come back stronger next season.
